The FY 2014 Certified Evaluation and Accreditation Results of Japan University Accreditation Association (JUAA) has been released on its official website: http://www.juaa.or.jp/en. Total 67 schools has been accredited against standards set by JUAA including 52 universities, 2 junior colleges, 2 law schools, 8 professional graduate business schools, 1 professional graduate public policy school, and 2 professional graduate schools of intellectual property studies.
JUAA is a voluntary organization established in 1947 under the sponsorship of 46 national, local public and private universities. Its mission is to promote the qualitative improvement of higher education institutions in Japan. In 1951, it started accrediting activities for universities applying for full membership in the JUAA. In 1996, the JUAA revised its university accreditation system based on “self-study” by each university. On August 31, 2004, the JUAA was certified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) as the first Certified Evaluation and Accreditation Agency for universities.
HEEACT has been actively pursuing experience exchange opportunities with international evaluation and accreditation organizations in order to enhance Taiwan’s quality assurance practice and bridge our evaluation and accreditation system with international community. As a result, JUAA and HEEACT signed a Memorandum of Arrangement in 2013. Through the exchange visit of personnel, both organizations expect to learn from each other’s experiences to improve its own quality assurance system and the quality of higher education.
