TAIPEI, August 21, 2026.

Dr. Geoff Perry, Executive Vice President and Chief Officer (Asia Pacific, Americas, and Membership) of AACSB International, visited the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT) today. He met with HEEACT Executive Director Dr. Kuang-Chao Yu in the first executive-level meeting between the two organizations. The talks covered accreditation methodology, Assurance of Learning (AoL), and reviewer training, and both sides agreed to continue the exchange.

Founded in 1916, AACSB International (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) celebrates its 110th anniversary this year. It is the world’s largest business education alliance, with 2,028 members in more than 100 countries and 1,077 accredited business schools, 30 of them in Taiwan. From its headquarters in Tampa and offices in Singapore and Amsterdam, AACSB works in three areas: accreditation, thought leadership, and learning and development.

The visit builds on working-level exchanges that began in 2025 and a bilateral meeting at the AACSB Asia Pacific Accreditation Conference in Chiang Mai in June 2026.

During the talks, Dr. Perry introduced the 2026 edition of AACSB’s global accreditation standards and its principles-based approach, under which schools demonstrate quality in their own context rather than against uniform numerical rules. HEEACT shared the framework and practice of its institutional evaluation. The two sides discussed how AoL helps universities examine student learning outcomes, and whether the practice could serve disciplines beyond business education.

“Our institutional evaluation places the same weight on student learning outcomes,” said Dr. Yu. “AACSB has decades of methods and cases in Assurance of Learning, and this meeting showed both sides how much we can learn from each other.” 

The exchange is also a new step in HEEACT’s international engagement. The Council’s international network has been built mainly with national quality assurance agencies; the dialogue with AACSB opens a channel to international professional accreditation organizations. Professional accreditation looks at quality from a different angle, and HEEACT expects that perspective to matter more in the years ahead.

AACSB celebrates its 110th anniversary this year; HEEACT its 20th. The two organizations agreed to continue the exchange, beginning with Assurance of Learning.
