2025 The University of Tokyo Delegation Visit
TAIPEI — August 6 — HEEACT welcomed faculty and students from the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Education (Program in University Management and Policy Studies) for a focused roundtable on “University Innovation and Sustainable Governance in Taiwan” The session was chaired by Director Yu-Wen Chen and brought together HEEACT’s Research Division and the SPROUT Project Office team.
Assistant Research Fellows Chia-Pao Hsu and Arianna Fang-Yu Lin presented current developments in Taiwan’s higher education landscape and introduced HEEACT’s quality assurance frameworks. Prof. Wan-Chi Chen of National Taipei University provided an overview of the SPROUT project's goals and its evidence-based review mechanisms.
Led by Prof. Akiko Morozumi, the University of Tokyo delegation shared observations and posed questions on Taiwan’s QA system and the implementation of SPROUT project, prompting an in-depth exchange on institutional accreditation, governance, learning outcomes, and quality assurance. The discussion underscored shared commitments to professionalism, accountability, and societal impact.
HEEACT extends appreciation to Prof. Chun-Yi Tan of National Taichung University of Education for her kind facilitation, which made this meaningful Taiwan–Japan academic exchange possible. The visit further strengthens HEEACT’s international engagement and its mission to advance quality and sustainability in higher education.
