HEEACT and Malaysia Qualifications Agency (MQA) renewed the Memorandum of Arrangement (MoA) at the MQA headquarter in Petaling Jaya on Thursday, August 3rd 2017. The MoA, particularly focusing on mutual recognition between Taiwan and Malaysia was first signed in 2011, in order to compare the qualifications of the first degree, or undergraduate or bachelor degrees, between the two countries, making the higher education institutions in both countries comparable to local institutions.

Led by Executive Director Prof. Angela Yung Chi Hou, the HEEACT delegation includes three other members, Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education Section Chief Chi Wei Wu, HEEACT Quality Assurance Office Dean Prof. Shaw Ren Lin, and HEEACT Assistant Research Fellow Dr. Hua Chi Chou. The delegation was amicably greeted by MQA Chief Executive Officer Dato' Prof. Dr. Rujhan Bin Mustafa, Policy and Expertise Development Subsector Senior Director Dr. Soo Sit Chuan, Public & International Affairs Head of Unit Dr. Zabib Bakar, and the rest of the team.

The MoA aspires to cultivate the relationship in higher education between Taiwan and Malaysia, hoping to have more students pursue the studies of the highest level in both countries. Beyond closed doors, both agencies see the potential in each other and will continue to strengthen the partnership by enhancing mutual understanding and the exchange of information, and encouraging future staff exchange. With MQA as the first to undertake mutual recognition, HEEACT hopes to exchange more international projects that could eventually encourage more opportunities from other quality assurance agencies in other countries.

The MoA signing ceremony was represented by MQA Chief Executive Officer Dato' Prof. Dr. Rujhan Bin Mustafa and Executive Director Prof. Angela Yung Chi Hou, who were interviewed by the local media in Malaysia, the relevant reports and video links see below.
