HEEACT signed the Memorandum of Understanding with The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) on July 25, 2018 at Melbourne, Australia.
Before the signing ceremony, both quality assurance agencies shared in good faith the operational works and collaboration plans that were successfully carried out in the past years.
TEQSA’s representative Chief Executive Officer Anthony McClaran shared the current status of Australian higher education and the challenges it currently faces. HEEACT’s representative Executive Director Angela Yung-Chi Hou, facing a drastic change in policy of program accreditation being compulsory to voluntary, agreed partnering with local and international agencies and sharing works and results is presumably a lengthy challenge in quality assurance. Both agencies saw the potential to cooperate. In addition, both agencies look forward to strengthening the partnership by increasing mutual understanding through the staff exchange program in the future.
TEQSA was established by the Government as Australia’s Higher Education regulation and quality assurance agency in the 2010-11, and focused on ensuring that higher education providers can meet the minimum standards, to promote best practice and improve the quality of the Australian higher education sector.
