The Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT) is delighted to renew a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Japan Institution for Higher Education Evaluation (JIHEE) on 27 March, 2024. The friendship between HEEACT and JIHEE began in March 2019. In the context of establishing links of cooperation and improving the quality of higher education in Taiwan and Japan, HEEACT and JIHEE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). To explore further opportunities for cooperation in the dimensions of institutional, program and cross-border accreditation, staff training and information exchange of higher education review activities, HEEACT and JIHEE extended the partnership, in the form of a MoU signed by HEEACT’s Executive Director Kuang-Chao Yu and JIHEE’s President Masahiko Ishii in March, 2024.

Established by the Association of Private Universities of Japan in 2004, JIHEE aims to evaluate the situation in which educational and research activities are conducted at private universities and assist in their self-initiated endeavors to enhance and improve the quality of higher education, thereby contributing to the development of private universities and other academic institutions in Japan.

With comparable missions and institutional objectives in the quality assurance in higher education, both HEEACT and JIHEE wish to continue and strengthen the cooperation in a variety of areas ranging from information exchange on higher education developments, staff development and capacity building and more.
